Visit Oman
The Sultanate of Oman is often referred to as the hidden jewel at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula.
Despite Oman’s rapid transformation into a modern society since the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos ascended the throne in 1970 the country has retained its heritage, traditions, and values. This, combined with the world-renowned Omani hospitality and a wonderful collection of world class hotels, makes Oman the ideal destination for travellers looking to experience authentic Arabia.
When golfers are not hitting the fairways there is so much to see and do around the Sultanate. Whether you are interested in culture or nature, there is something for everyone in Oman.
In addition to the stunning beaches, vast deserts, wadis and ancient forts there are many other landmarks to visit:
The Muttrah Souq is a traditional market on the Muttrah Corniche and consists of several small shops that sell Omani products, silver and gold jewellery, and hand made souvenirs.
The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, built in 2001, has beautiful minarets, arches, landscaped gardens and a breath-taking crystal chandelier.
The Royal Opera House, built in 2011, is the main venue for arts in the capital city of Muscat and offers various international performances. Visitors are welcome to visit and enjoy a guided tour of the theatre.
Jebel Al Akhdar, the Green Mountain, is one of the mountains that form part of the Al Hajar range in the Al Dakhliya region. It is popular for visitors looking for hiking trails and local villages and many with farms producing roses and Omani honey.
Jebel Shams, or the Mountain of Sun, is another impressive mountain in this region. It is known as Oman’s Grand Canyon and boasts an easy-to-access walking trail for enthusiastic walkers.
The Dimaniyat Islands is a protected area in Oman. The Nature Reserve is composed of nine islands and has a rich natural heritage and is replete with several kinds of coral reefs, including some examples that are quite rare. The island is home to a large number of sea turtles that lay their eggs and nest there, as well as a being magnet for migratory and indigenous birds.
